The Chameleon plant, or Houttuynia (pronounced HOO-TIN-EE-UH), is an aggressive groundcover that loves moist, shady areas with fertile soil. Can tolerate sun as well, and the leaves become more brightly colored the more sun it gets. The Chameleon plant can also be grown in containers in water gardens, placed on a shallow shelf in a pond. Useful for areas that need a quick fill ground cover, it is important to give this perennial plenty of room to spread as well as consistent water. If you have a shady, woodland garden or pond, Houttuynia is a perfect plant!
