Liatris, also known as blazing star or gayfeather, is a long-blooming perennial wildflower native to eastern North America. The flowers grow from small bulbs called 'corms', and are hardy enough for our climate to leave in the ground over winter. The flowers themselves are actually very tiny and star shaped, and are arranged along tall, upright, bottle brush spires. The leaves are spiky and turn a lovely orange-bronze in the fall. As a native prairie plant, Liatris will thrive best in full sun with plenty of moisture. Butterflies absolutely LOVE Liatris, this is a must have perennial for your pollinator garden!
