pincushion flower (scabiosa)
Pincushion flowers feature spiky pom-pom balls on strong stems in shades of pink, purple, and blue. These whimsy blooms are right at home in perennial butterfly gardens, and make excellent cut flowers. They bloom reliably throughout the season and can be a wonderful accent plant for patio containers. Scabiosa grows best in moderate temperatures, lightly shaded from the hot afternoon sun.
