FALSE INDIGO
False Indigo (Baptisia) is a large, native shrub-like perennial that is very long-lived and drought resistant. It has traditionally been used in medicine and to make a blue dye. Spikes of pea-like flowers on sturdy stems burst into bloom from late spring to early summer, attracting butterflies and other pollinators to the garden. Although traditionally a blue flower, False Indigo also comes in shades of white, yellow, purple, and burgundy. Will grow in sun to part sun and is deer resistant.
