meadow sweet
Filipendula (Meadow Sweet) is a lovely woodland perennial with leaves like that of a Maple, and delicate, fluffy plumes of flowers in shades of cream and pink. Growing in shadier locations in moist soil, they produce long lasting flowers in mid summer. Native to Europe and Western Asia, Meadow Sweet is now naturalized through out North America and grows in areas of damp meadows. It used widely in herbal medicine and as an added bonus, the deer don't bother this hardy, long lived plant!
