CHOKEBERRY
A beautiful landscape shrub with 3 seasons of interest: white spring flowers, purple black summer berries, and bright red fall color. Not only are these shrubs highly ornamental, but the berries are an edible 'superfood', high in antioxidants. The fruit will also stay on the shrub all winter long, providing food for birds and other wildlife. The fruit can be made into preserves, juice, and syrups. Hardy and easy to grow, Chokeberries (Aronia) likes full to part sun, average to moist, somewhat sandy soil. They can be drought tolerant once established and are great for erosion control.
