DAHLIA

The Dahlia is truly a star in the flower world. One of the favorites among many gardeners, Dahlias are eye catching, breathtaking centerpieces to any flower garden or container. Coming in a variety of colors, sizes, and shapes, each flower explodes into a beautiful display of starlike petals. Due to their beauty, size, and firm stems, they are a favorite to use in bouquets and arrangements. Although Dahlias prefer to be planted in full sun, aim for planting in mostly morning sun in a space sheltered from wind. With regular watering and rich well drained soil, Dahlias are sure to thrive. Since Dahlias are annual in Wyoming and cannot survive the cold, come winter, dig up the tuberous roots and store them to be planted outside next spring.
