Salpiglossis, also known as the painted tongue plant, is an upright plant with trumpet-shaped flowers that come in deep bold hues of burgundy and reddish orange. Salpiglossis is a cool weather annual that blooms in early spring and later in the fall. It can grow to a mature height of three feet. Plant in an area of partial to full sun, but be aware salpiglossis will not bloom in high temperatures. As a drought tolerant choice, plant in an area with well draining soil and water as needed.
