GAILLARDIA
A native wildflower, Gaillardia, also known as Blanket Flower, will cover your garden with vibrant beautiful blooms. They are characterized by large fiery centers tipped with golden borders. At Sprouts, we also carry unique varieties featuring beautiful shades of burgundy and gold. Gaillardia is a cold hardy (Zone 3) and a deer resistant plant that grows well in full sun with moderate to low water requirements, being able to handle drought conditions once established. It prefers well drained soil and will suffer in heavy clay soil. With a prolonged bloom season, it begins to bloom in summer and continues into the fall. It is a top attraction for butterflies, and the giant seed pods are a great snack for birds.
