PENSTEMON
Penstemon, also known as Beard tongue, is another cold-hardy, native flowering plant to Wyoming. It is characterized by its tall stalks of tubular flowers. Sprouts Greenhouse carries several colors of penstemon, such as deep purples and electric reds. It gets its nickname, Beard Tongue, from its elongated stamen that protrudes from the cylinder petals. It is an easy to grow perennial that thrives in dry, well-draining rocky or sandy soil, planted in full sun. It blooms in early summer, but can last all season long, and is deer resistant. An absolute favorite for the hummingbirds and butterflies!
