WATERMELON

A refreshing favorite for many, Watermelons taste even sweeter from your own garden.  Watermelons are warm season plants and will suffer in frost.  Starting watermelons indoors or buying transplants is the best way to ensure that your watermelon has time to ripen before frosts come in the fall.  Plant in full sun in rich well draining soil, and water regularly to ensure that soil is moist but not soggy. Watermelon vines produce both male and female flowers, and need to be pollinated by bees or other pollinators.
