An unmistakible perennial vine in the fall with its bright red foliage and dark berries, Engelman Ivy (a.k.a. Virginia Creeper) is a great option if you are looking for a fast growing vine to fill in a large area. Extremely hardy and drought tolerant, Engelman Ivy will grow in sun to shade locations in just about any soil. They will grow up fences, walls, arbors, can be planted to drape over walls and even make a good ground cover or privacy screen. This vine can be invasive, but the woody stems are easy to prune and control if regularly maintained. It will grow up to 40 feet at maturity and live 20 years or more.
